Week 40

Hard to believe that the end is near. Its also the most weird feeling to just be waiting for our whole lives to change.  Week 40 is definitely the last of the weekly highlight posts as I will be induced on Wednesday May 20th.... unless there are no beds for me. Lets hope that doesn't happen.

As much acupuncture I have done, I was really hoping our girl would come without pitocin. I'm a person that likes to be in control of my own universe, and an induction like this doesn't make me feel like I am. My current mind set it all I can do is go with it and trust that everything will go the way its supposed to and my job is to do whatever it takes to bring this little pea into the world.

Hard to believe she will be here... and soon. Hard to believe that the crib will have someone to sleep in it and all the things that are shinny and new will be broken in. It will be fun to see how she really looks. I know there will be some incredibly chubby cheeks involved for sure; but to see her hair color, and eyes open, and a moving little person in my arms is still something I know will happen but can't quite picture in my mind.

This week has been a lot of hanging out, waiting, eating, napping, netflix, and some cleaning.

Thursday was another day of work. I was so ready to be done.It was funny to explain to my middle schoolers that there are no extensions to projects or extra credit because I was going to have a baby any day.  Not any people knew that the 14th was my official due date as I always just rounded to the 15th because it was an easier number to remember. Many were surprised I worked up until my due date and 1 day passed. Hitting the official 40 week mark felt like everything was a waiting game. It also started the trend that if I was 3 minutes late to work or anywhere else, the big question was if I had a baby.  I've had lots of people check in and see how I am. Its been nice, but there also hasn't been any news.

The hubs also decided it was time for things to be by the door. So when I woke up on Friday morning, this was at the door.

Made me smile that he was ready to go.  Friday was a full of trying to tie up the last few things at work- lesson plans, grades, and passing on things I felt needed to be passed on. I tried to get as much done as possible and the most important things did.  The last few days of work, I took over the library in the afternoon to hold class with robots. It was nice not to have to move equipment.. and me close to the bathroom too :) My last 2 classes of the week I finally had this inspired idea to let the kids use the 200 empty chromebook boxes we have in our library with robots. They had the best time. They were stacked high in their arms and cool things got built. The last class for the week with my favorite 5th graders was pretty great. Due to the rain and a fundraiser event happening- the PE coach asked if I wanted to join forces for a class. I never turn down those opportunities. We had 50 kids in the gym in groups with robots. There were bowling pins and LOTS of chromebook boxes, and whiteboards as ramps, and hula hoops, and lots of happy faces. It was a great way to end the week.  After carpool, we were allowed to leave; but I had a few more things to finish up. I had lots of well wishes and hugs. When I walked out the door it was an odd feeling. I wasn't going to see those people on Monday- or even in a week. I was going to see them in July. I wasn't going to be available by email or chat as I normally am. That feeling of disengagement is not something I experience... EVER.

Once I finally got out of work the vaults and I had one more session. It was good to go; but poor things had already been there for an hour. Luckily, I have good friends that know exactly what I like to order and ordered for me. We also had a poor baby that is normally a little ray of sunshine that was miserable. Hungry and teething is rough. The best was getting to walk around with her and get those snuggles as she fought off sleep.  We all started to head home about 6 and once I got home it really set it that I was kind of cut off from everyone for a while. Something I have been looking forward to; but a strange feeling when it finally happens.

Friday night my hips and back were a little achy so I didn't sleep well. I got up and headed for the couch- as it is my favorite comfort spot in the house and I slept. When I woke up my cousin Lori came over and she was my walking partner. It was so nice to catch up with her and have someone to walk with. We went on the trail behind my house and probably got in 3+ miles.  Not gonna lie- that was the biggest work out I've done in forever- and I was really sweaty after.

There was a nap involved after. I also didn't do much the rest of the day. The hubs and I hung out and relaxed. He made us tacos for lunch- and yes- they were beef. It was really good. We had company for lunch from one of his friends and it was funny to watch his face when he realized they weren't 100% vegetarian tacos on my plate. After he left, the hubs and I napped-- knowing this was our last weekend to do so. When we woke up  we went to dinner at Red Robin- because that's what I was hungry for. And it was so good. Nice to enjoy one last date night before we have a car seat with us :)

Sunday was a very mellow day. It was cold and rainy for the most part and I didn't sleep that great. So me and the couch were friends again. The hubs headed to his dad's house to plant the annual summer garden. It was very cute how he checked to see how I was feeling to make sure it was safe to leave. He was worried to be far away and something happen. I assured him- it was okay.  While he was gone, the kitties and I enjoyed napping on the couch and generally being lazy. When he came home, we both were in cleaning moods. We dusted and vacuumed and I got our sheets washed and pillows sanitized. After we finished all the cleaning we felt we could do- it was time for dinner. The theme for food that sounded good this weekend was anything I could have velveeta cheese on. That happened to be a baked potato for this dinner. So I had a cheesy potato with herb and butter rice and some sauteed mushrooms. The hubs had pork chops. It was a great dinner. Not long after- bed time.

I didn't sleep again because of my back and hips. I really thought that this was a good sign that labor was coming. I was hoping I would go to my DR appointment and I would be told that there was great progress and labor was in the works.  Spoiler alert - that's not what I heard.
I even had an acupuncture appointment Monday morning to try and help. After that I came home to two egg McMuffins that the hubs made and hung out with the hubs until it was time to head to the doctor. When I got there and had finished the weekly routine, there was no progress. I felt pretty sad. I also found out that my induction was scheduled for Wednesday not Thursday as I had originally thought. The doctor was so nice and even tried to reschedule for Thursday; but unfortunately the hospital is full on both Wednesday and Thursday. The other option was to go to Sky Ridge... I didn't want to do that. So Wednesday morning EARLY we go in. Again, lets hope that there is a bed for me.

After that news I went to the store and got a few things to get us through for a while. I also had some nervous energy- so I cleaned. The bathtubs and sink are now sparkling. My preggo reasoning- baby girl will come home and have a first bath in one of those places and I wanted it to be clean. It gave me something to do. I have my work email, chat, and calendars detached from my phone and doing so has left me learning to do different things instead of work all the time. I don't think this will be so hard when those chubby cheeks want my attention.  I made myself some pancakes for dinner and am enjoying my last few days of having a free pass on healthy foods. Very soon I will be working quite hard to burn off all those cheese powdered foods I have enjoyed so much- and the greasy tacos too.  Of Course, I got full and the air was cool coming through the window, and the couch felt so nice- I napped.

I'm hoping to get a good couple nights sleep before we head for induction. Tomorrows plan is to hang out and spend some time with my parents. They are coming up to be here for sweet pea's arrival. Nana Peggy will be with us  during labor and delivery. Papa bob is going to keep the cats entertained and anxiously await getting to hold his grand daughter. I'm hoping we can teach him how to use the tv so he isn't staring at the white walls in the house.

Good by pregnancy highlight posts- you have been a fun way to document pregnancy and will be made into a book for posterity. Thanks to all of you that have read and followed along. This blog has over 2500+ hits! Amazing.
