Week 18 Highlights

This week has felt faster than the rest of December. That feels a little nice, especially since all I want to do is get to that school break... and that ultrasound!

My Thursday started with a whole lot of kindness. I just walked down the  hall... and people gave me food. First it was the oatmeal from one of our office staff. I love her. Then it was rice krispie treats and nutella from a staff member and her kids. It was so incredibly kind. And only the rice krispie treats are left.

Thursday was more hour of code and I was thankful to have help for the kindergarten classes. The back was still sore. And as people LOVE to tell me.... it will only get worse. I ranted about that in the last post.  With all that extra help for classes I was able to take a bit better care of myself.  As I am sitting here trying to think what else Thursday brought, I also think... Poor Thursday- I can never remember them.
So we'll just move on to Friday. More kindergarten, an all day parent volunteer, tons of hands for kindie technology class. The picture below was a surprise on my phone when I was looking through pictures for the blog this week. Not sure if it was a student or parent; angle makes me think kiddo; but it was neat to get in a picture for once. It was also ugly sweater day and I would have melted in more than one way if I had worn one- so I opted for my Griswald Family Christmas shirt. Not the same fit it normally has; but thats what my pregnant self looks like with students.

After school Friday, a couple of the vaults and I headed to one of my favorite teacher places: the Scholastic Warehouse. It opens up a couple times of the year and books that are already cheap- are usually 50% off. Linda (do you feel like you know her? ...her and I do a lot together) and I have been going together for 9 years now. Its pretty therapeutic to walk up and down those isles full of books. Maybe my teacher is showing in that statement. I'm okay with that. I was even more exited to go for 2 reasons: 1. I was buying books for MY baby. (I"m still not quite used to the reality of the fact there will be a baby in this world in a few short months). 2. Little miss Sassy Pants here was going to join us with her shopping cart. She comes to all the vault sessions and all the fun. She makes things more fun. And let me just say- watching her push her cart around the warehouse and look for Elmo (books) was so stinking cute it just made my whole day so much better.

After going up and down the isles probably twice at least. I came home with these books... and a few others that are gifts. My favorite dynamic duo decided to pose with the books as well. Looking forward to some story time with these new treasures. This little sweet pea is going to love books... or I will give it my best try.

After book buying was dinner. And it was tasty; but took a loooong time. at 8:30 the little sassy pants was ready for bed, and so were the grown ups at the table.
Saturday was a very mellow day. I got up, kept the couch company, took a nap, and then rolled into the shower to start my day about 1pm. I knew it would be a long night so it was okay to load up on the sleep.  We were heading to Pueblo/Canon City that evening for dinner and the Santa Train. I love riding trains. Its also special to go with my brother because trains are his job. I love his insight. The hubs came and so did my father in law. I love when he comes with us! He was a good sport and filled an empty ticket at the very last minute. On the way there, I felt a little flutter in my belly. I'm not sure if that was baby movement or not- so I am going to see if it happens again and then call it for sure.
We had Olive Garden for dinner and were in a time crunch. I ate the salad right out of the bowl. Didn't even care. I had spaghetti and it tasted so good I probably could have licked the plate. I was polite and didn't. Of course, I ate a lot in a little bit of time and that belly of mine got real hard. Its still so weird that my belly does that.  Nana was the sponsor for our fun and I so appreciate all the fun things she adds to our lives. We already talked about how fun it will be to take the sweat pea and Liam be the tour guide. Below are some pictures of our time, Husband and Father in law- I just snapped- they didn't know I was doing it. Liam and my brother, Nana and myself.

Liam looking at the North Pole, The train at the depot- we didn't ride on this, but it was decorated very cool. And a bell- Keep reading.... I'll tell ya about it.

The train takes you through the Royal Gorge and it was awesome to look out and see the rocks and river. The car was pretty cushy and we rolled real smooth down those tracks. Thankfully there was hot chocolate and cookies to spike up the sugar long enough to enjoy the whole trip. They since carols and play games for kids on the train and at the North Pole, santa comes around. He gives every kid a bell. If you know the Polar Express you know the bell is to believe in Santa. When Santa shook our hands and wished us a Merry Christmas- he handed me a bell for our little sweet pea. It was so cute I could have cried... but I didn't.
It was a long night to get home from the Santa Train experience. We got in about midnight.

Sunday we were tired and made the day a mellow one. It was also cold and snowy. The perfect day to just be inside and not do much. Patches kept the clean clothes from being fur -free. And Sass took her normal spot on the belly while I relaxed on the couch. Doesn't she look happy.  Usually on the weekend the hubs will make us dinner and this was no exception. He made chili rellenos and a sauce that was pretty good. After he wanted a slurpee- I normally don't get one; but I did. I like cold when its cold outside. I think its a pregnancy side effect. So like a good husband- he called at the gas station to give me all the options. Cherry was tasty. He also brought home ice cream. I had never had a Reeses ice cream; but it was good. Talk about sugar overload- neither of these made it past an hour of him being home.  Sugar and I really do need to have a break up.

Monday was a long day at work but  a good one. Much more mellow than last week.  Poor Monday- it really didn't get remembered this week either.

Tuesday was another busy day with a special school lunch. As a kid I didn't like school lunch. As an adult- I love it. When I saw French Toast on the menu I HAD to have it. And it was soooo good. I ate a lot. These pictures were towards the end of lunch. So why do I mention this: because if you look hard enough- there are eggs on the tray. First a small little bit, then I went back for more. They were so good. If I had more room in my stomach- I probably would have eaten more. 2nd time in 20 years to eat eggs. As my dear friend and lunch duty partner Toni would say, "Baby needs protein, baby wants eggs."

When I called my mom later to catch up, I told her about those eggs- she was so shocked she had to go in the other room and tell my dad. I thought that was funny.

Tuesday is also Tablet Tuesday and we got to play with our new robot Dash. Made my day!!

Wednesday was a day full of sweets. Our parent association not only provided breakfast- they also had parents bring in cookies and we each got to pack up a dozen cookies to take home. Lets  just say a couple didn't make it. Again- sugar and I need to break up.

Cleaning out my backpack, I also found this cute note. I'm not sure whose class is "the whole class" but this was fun to find.

Wednesday night was a change of scenery. My dear friend Brandon invited me over to chat and catch up. It was so nice. Pizza and wine (and cranberry ginger ale).  I just love him. He is one of my bestest. He also gave me a cool shirt of a skull that is made of cats. Totally up my alley. Fun way to spend a Wednesday. Just what I needed to get through the last couple days of school before break.

So here I am in bed and ready to get to sleep to make it through another Thursday. I hope I remember it. Mostly- I am ready to find out the gender of this little one and most importantly see how the sweet pea is doing in there. Keeping gender a secret until Christmas will be hard; but I so want the memory of surprising people. Life isn't full of very many surprises so we are going to take advantage.

I have a count down on my phone to keep me trucking.

The sweat pea and I are doing a little music time as well. I built a play list of music and  I play it near my belly several times a week.I was quite excited to recycle some of our wedding music- string versions of some of our favorite songs as well as some mozart, Elvis, and a couple lullaby versions of bands I love: Nine inch Nails and Black Sabbath. Sweet Pea is getting an ear for the good stuff in a healthy way from the start.

That belly is growing, I know I said that last time but it is true. Looking forward to reporting next week about our ultrasound. Until then, I have teacher stuff to get done so I can enjoy those two weeks of freedom. Also a note of mention- this blog has had over 1000 hits!!!! That's just crazy town. Pretty amazing.
